Harlequins
Harlequins have 4 basic colors:  black, blue, chocolate, and lilac.  They come in 2 basic varieties:  Japanese and Magpie.  The
Japanese variety is orange with one of the 4 basic colors, and the Magpie variety is white with one of the 4 basic colors.
Either variety can be
banded or barred.

The first recorded exhibition of the Harlequin was in Paris in 1887, and their popularity has waxed and waned over the years.

Harlequins are difficult to breed and to show because the breed standard for the markings is very specific.  For example, the
head has to be divided equally in the 2 colors with ears that alternate the coloration.

Hopefully these pictures will help to show the markings.  The following pictures were taken from the
American Harlequin
Rabbit Club's website.
